Frequently asked questions

What are your office hours?
Monday 8 - 4:30, Tuesday and Wednesday 7 - 5, Thursday 7 - 1.

Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We accept and process most insurance and we are a preferred provider for Washington dental service, Regence and United Concordia.

Do you treat children?
Yes. We have a very child friendly environment and enjoy working with children. Our caring team will see that their experience will be positive and informative. We believe it is very important to build a relationship and trust at a young age.

Will I have my teeth cleaned on the first appointment?
We will thoroughly evaluate your periodontal status and recommend the therapy that is most appropriate for you. This can range from a 30 minute cleaning in a mouth with no disease, to 4 hours of periodontal therapy in a mouth with significant disease. Cleanings may require the use of local anesthetic and in the case of severe disease, require a referral to a periodontist. It is important to remember that periodontal disease may be completely painless so many patients are unaware of any existing problem. Therefore, our most important goals of your first exam will be to take x-rays, evaluate and inform you of any disease found and make recommendations for treatment. We know that patients like to have teeth cleaned on their first visit. We may begin a cleaning but may have to finish on a subsequent visit.

Why do I need x-rays?
Dental x-rays give us vital information to evaluate the health of your teeth, roots, bones, joints and other structures. The standard of care is a full series of x-rays every 3-5 years to allow complete and accurate diagnosis. Dr. Janssen requires new x-rays in order to be thorough, but we will happily retrieve any current existing films.

Why do I need a root canal and a crown?
Teeth that have been fractured, or died because of extensive decay, repeated trauma or the breakdown of large fillings may need root canals. When tooth structure has been compromised, the tooth becomes weakened and its' functionality may become compromised and require a crown to restore strength and function.

If you have any additional questions please e-mail Dr. Janssen. She encourages questions and does her best to answer all e-mails.
